According to the 2015 National Health and Morbidity Survey, 52.3% of Malaysian smokers wanted to quit smoking[1]. Similarly, 59.5% of smokers considered quitting after noticing the health warning labels on cigarette packs. For a large number of smokers, their desire to quit is driven by various reasons such as health, family, or financial situations.

However, quitting isn't easy, and relapse is not uncommon. The good news, though, is that every attempt to quit is a small step towards that one day when you'll finally say, "I quit!"

Housemates John Ooi, 30, and Reuben Michael, 31, concur. They realised that half the battle is having the mental fortitude and tenacity to resist the cravings and urges to smoke.

According to John, a business owner, and Reuben, a project manager, both had a long history of heavy smoking where each would smoke a pack of cigarettes whenever they worked late into the night.
